Elisabeth Schimana has been working as a composer, performer and radio artist since 1983. She studied electro-acoustics and experimental music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, musicology and ethnology at the University of Vienna and computermusic – composition at the IEM (Institute for Electronic Music) in Graz. Her work concentrated on space / body / electronic for many years. She has ongoing cooperations with the Austrian Kunstradio and also focuses on research in the field of women, art and technology. In 2005, she founded IMA Institute of Media Archaeology, where she is the artistic director. She curated and produced exhibitions like „Magical Sound Machines“, and is currently involved in a reverse engineering project.
