A trained archivist and historian, he was involved in a number of projects in the cultural domain, contributing to digitisation efforts, the standardisation and enrichment of descriptive metadata and the development of data models and metadata exchange formats. His experience includes consultancy and teaching assignments in the area of records management and digital archives. From 2012 until 2015, he worked at the German National Library and coordinated nestor, the German network for digital preservation, which caters to the needs of libraries, museums, archives and research institutions.
